After months of development, Traitor Cycles is pleased to announce the availability of their new single-speed cross frameset, the Crusade. The frame is made from Columbus Life tubing. With internally-routed cables, a custom seatstay cable stop, stainless dropouts and the new Claymore fork (which is made from Columbus SLX), the Crusade is the only weapon you need for the cross course.

“Living in the northwest, it only seems right to honor a sport whose roots are as strong as the level of competition. The Single Speed Cyclocross World Championships are held in our backyard with some of the most competitive racers on the course. We were thoughtful around overall design, needs of the user as well as aesthetics and were able to bring to the table something that is race pedigree and beautiful,” says Joseph Parietti, head of sales for Traitor.
"Getting the fork right was key to finishing off the package. Using a lightweight but sturdy steel allowed for a ride quality that we weren’t finding racing on carbon forks,” explains Joe. “We have put in a full season of racing on the Crusade, with racers from Bellingham to Portland giving feedback on the final design ensuring we have a bike that is race ready. We couldn’t be any more stoked on the end result.”
Crusades will be available in shops July 2010. The frame with fork will retail for $699 in two color options, white and cyan blue. Aftermarket Claymore forks are also available for purchase.

'sup with the colors on the SSCX bikes coming out now? Pale lime or whatever on the Nature Boy and Cyan Blue on this? Are they hoping it looks better covered in mud? And is it impossible to do metallics now (more expensive)? I'd love a metallic green or a metallic sky blue or navy. There was a prototype Nature Boy that was navy and I wanted to fwap all over it. I'm looking to switch over from my Steamroller to a SSCX frame because the Steamroller has caliper brakes and slightly shorter chainstays (my axle is at the back of my dropouts for 35mm tires) so I hope someone comes out with a color I like. Just sayin.

Adding a metallic will also ad cost. That is why you dont see many lower priced frames with this option. It is also more difficult to spray resulting in more time and more room for error.
Same goes with powdercoat. Except for the more expensive part. all powder is hella cheap.

Why are people so afraid of disc brakes? I ride an On One and would kill to trade out my cantis for discs.
