Friday Afternoon Banger: Skream - Outside The Box

"Wibbler" from Outside the Box

As if it's any surprise, Skream has long been one of my favorite dubstep producers. From "Midnight Request Line" to his 2008 mixtape "Watch the Ride", the boy wonder of dubstep has always produced stellar beats. Never before has one man been responsible for the control over a genre. I know that's a lot to say about a sole DJ but it's really quite true and while he may not be the arbiter of music, he sure predicts where it's going.

Check out more of my review below.

"Fields Of Emotion" from Outside the Box

Enter his newest full-length, Outside The Box. It's 14 song catalog fills up exactly an hour's worth of D&B and garage influenced dubstep; coming a long way from the Skreamizm EPs! Since his break-out LP, Skream, the producer's been mastering his skills and it's completely evident in Outside The Box. If you're looking for wobble beats and basslines, you won't be content with Outside The Box. While the signature snares and two-steps are there, hidden, it's not what you'd expect!

In fact, the only track that becons to the two-step soldiers is embedded above. The Wibbler's wrecking bass and synths will be one of the bigger hits for 2010 in the dubstep world but you have to wade through nine tracks before you get to it. My other favorite track is "Fields Of Emotion" and once again, it's not your typical banger. While Outside The Box may not be for everyone, it offers a bit of variation to the juggernauts of modern dubstep. It's worth the scoop, so do so on August 9th when it drops.

I'll leave you with the official video for his cut "Listenin' To The Records On My Wall".
